No Secrets (2009)
About this project
Date in the diary
November 2008 - February 2009
The Deal
A filmmaking project working with 16 adults from the Learning Disabled Parliament in Durham.
How it worked
The group had creative control over the whole project and decided what the film was going to be about. They decided upon the 'No Secrets' Government paper which gives guidance on developing and implementing procedures to protect vulnerable adults from abuse. As the parliament have an influence on local policy they wanted to promote this message.
The group learned how to use the camera equipment, frame shots, shoot footage as well as aspects of project management; reading scripts and deciding upon props, how long scenes will take to shoot, what equipment would be needed.
Did it end up on the Cutting Room Floor?
The films were premiered at UCAN Film Festival in 2009 with great success!
Why was it great?
The film is now being used by Northumberland Primary Care Trust in training for their staff and for people with Learning Difficulties.
Say What?
Everyone at UCAN loved our films and it was really great to work with the Engage team who taught us skills and listened to our opinions. They really help make a difference.
