The Deal

Throughout 2009 we facilitated an NCFE Level 1 in creative craft to 16 young people with learning and behavioural difficulties. This was a pilot project in collaboration with Gateshead College.

How it worked

For 6 months we ran the course which saw the group achieve the qualification. Throughout the course young people learnt filmmaking, creative and communication skills, produced a total of 4 films and gained work experience on the set of a professional film shoot (thanks Vita Nova Films)

Did it end up on the Cutting Room Floor?

We are currently organising a Premiere to showcase the excellent film, Dead Wood, produced by the group.

Why was it great?

The pilot project was a fantastic opportunities for the participants to get accreditation for their creative talents.

Say What?

I got to learn how to write, use a camera and act, which was my favourite. After we made our films I got to help with costumes on a big set which was lots of fun. I hope to make more films in the future as it's a really good experience and you learn a lot.
